
ABOUT GARY
Gary Peterson is an Emmy Award-winning playwright, author, and retired television editor whose published works have been performed by schools and community theaters throughout the United States and abroad.
His adaptations include The Great Gatsby, Little Women, The Importance of Being Earnest, Charley's Aunt, and Pygmalion (published as Mayfair Lady), along with original comedies and dramas such as
The Edge of Noir, The Mummy Unravels, and Hank Cinque.
Gary has also collaborated with David A. Byrne on Klondike Kalamity and A Little Christmas Spirit,
and with songwriter Larry Nestor on The Brementown Musicians.
In addition to his stage works, Gary is the author of Watching the Watchers
and Windows of Wonder: Young People Whose Fresh Insights Changed the World.
Before turning his full attention to writing, Gary enjoyed a distinguished career as a video editor with Disney/ABC Television in Chicago. During more than four decades in broadcasting, he contributed to hundreds of television productions, including The Oprah Winfrey Show, and earned three Emmy Awards—including a National Emmy for his editing work on ABC's coverage of the 1984 Summer Olympic Games in Los Angeles,
as well as Regional Emmy Awards in 2007 and 2017.
